The story of this place
Calia is a roasted seed — chickpeas, broad beans, lupins — that street vendors carried through the streets of Palermo in little cones of yellow paper. It was the children’s snack, the pastime of the old folk on the benches, the warm scent of winter evenings in the historic markets. We gave this name to the first apartment because it too is something small, warm, genuine. Something that feels like home.
Appartamenti Carella are made for those who want real freedom. No breakfast times, no keys to hand back before noon. Here you have your own kitchen, your own living room, a bedroom that’s only yours. You can come back late at night, bring home the produce bought at the Capo market and cook it at your own pace.
Palermo is just outside the door. You decide when to step into it.

The neighbourhood
Appartamenti Carella are on Via Carella, a few metres from Via Cavour, in the Teatro Massimo area (6 minutes on foot). Via Ruggero Settimo and the Politeama, for shopping and evening strolls, are under 10 minutes away. To shop like the locals you have the Capo market and the Vucciria about ten minutes away, and the port is 12: very handy if you arrive or leave by ferry.

Just outside the ZTL (Palermo’s limited traffic zone): you can arrive by car with no permit. Nearby you’ll find blue-line parking, free parking in Via Castello and two staffed garages 300 m away. The ideal choice if you’re travelling by car.
